Congratulations to the winners of the 2025 FORM Student Design Competition!

Prizes
The grand prizewinner will receive a $2,000 cash award and the fabricated design will be displayed at NeoCon 2025 in Chicago. The second-place winner will receive $1,000 in a cash prize and two winners who tied for third place will each receive $500. The winners are all invited to join Formica Corporation at NeoCon 2025 for a chance to network with industry professionals and get a taste of the design community. Formica Corporation also will fabricate the winning design as part of the company’s presence at NeoCon.
About The Competition
The FORM Student Innovation Competition is a modern take on the original “FORM: Contemporary Architects at Play” challenge, held by Formica Corporation in 2008. Ten world-renowned architects, including Zaha Hadid, Michael Graves, Bernard Tschumi and Massimo Vignelli, constructed new works of art from Formica® Brand products.

Grand Prize Winner:
Leah-Marie Boake from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, “Playce”

Design Statement: The Playce project outlines deeply connected wellness initiatives critical to enhancing childhood development,” said Jon Otis, competition judge and professor of interior design at Pratt Institute. “All of this is accomplished with a functional and playful form that utilizes Formica® Laminate in creative and colorful ways. And it’s fun!
2nd Prize Winner:
Stacy-Ann Matthews and Tara Hunt from Yorkville University, “Noyes Balance”

Design Statement: The dynamic, multi-functional piece is designed to enhance wellbeing in home workspaces by promoting organization and disguising clutter.
3rd Prize Winner (Tie):
Andrea Vidal Alvarez from Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, “SereniTea Hub”

Design Statement: “SereniTea Hub,” is a practical and aesthetic multifunctional cabinet designed to help users pause for small moments of wellbeing in their daily routines.
Grace Luong from University of Waterloo, “Solarium”

Design Statement: “Solarium,” is a floor lamp designed to mimic the warm essence of sunbeams and connect users to nature, evoking a feeling of wellness.
